Not everyone should create an online course. Should you?

𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗡 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘. ⁣

There. I said it. ⁣

Just because the big name entrepreneurs are telling you to create an online course about literally anything and the business coaches in your IG feed and Facebook groups are telling you to "just take messy action" 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙. ⁣

Every week, I get approached by entrepreneurs that are brand new babies in the online space and they want to build a course on that one thing they did that one time that worked out well for them and now they want to show everyone else how to do that thing too and make six figures off of it. ⁣

Do they have credibility markers around their topic? Not technically. Do they have a repeatable process? Not sure yet. ⁣

Online courses take a lot of time, energy, and strategy to create successfully and the decision to create one is not one that should be taken lightly. They're a powerful tool to scale an existing business into an identified market.⁣

So how do you know if you should create an online course? Ask yourself these questions.⁣

1. 𝗔𝗺 𝗜 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰?⁣
2. 𝗗𝗼 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗜'𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴?⁣

If your answer is "no" to one or both of these, maybe hold off on course building for a minute. Does that mean you shouldn't try to make money teaching your thing? Heck no! Go for it! Instead of putting all your eggs into the course creation basket though, go work with clients 1:1 or in a group to validate your process and build your credibility.⁣

If your answer is "yes" to both of these questions, you've got a solid foundation and are in a great spot to build a course! ⁣

And hey, if building a course is a smart next step for your business and you're serious about creating a powerful learning experience that students are excited about and that generates valuable ROI for your business, let's chat about done-with-you or done-for-you signature course development ✨⁣

So now I'm curious... Do you agree with my stance on course creation? 😏
